Useful Tools

I need to make sure I get my blog post finished about how we used the Rotten Romans Wii game in our class but in the meantime I thought I’d tell you about a useful tool I’ve been using this week – OneNote. It’s part of Office 2007, 2010 and the online office tools that can be used via a windows live account….

The class were set a homework to prepare a presentation about the engineering legacy left by the Romans several weeks ago – and they have been dutifully researching, building models, etc. I’ve previously recorded their presentations using audacity, then published them as podcasts on our learning platform.  But this time I used the webcam on my Intel Classmate (a bit like a Fizzbook to look at).  I flipped the camera over so it would take a video of what I was looking at, recorded the children’s 2 minute presentations as videos embedded within OneNote – a page per pupil.  Evidence collected, annotations/next learning steps recorded in notes typed in while I was listening to them answering questions, all set to be shared via skydrive or dropbox with my partner teacher – job done!
